Pittsburgh Comic Con, and life thereafter...

Wed Sep 16, 2009, 5:26 PM
Recently got back from the Pittsburgh Comic Con this past weekend, and with all the awesome people I met and exchanged info with, I realized I probably should update this freakin' thing! Overall, I had a great experience at the Con. Aside from being utterly disappointed by the public persona of one of my heroes in the biz (who will go unnamed, but let's just say he draws alot of buxom babes for DC), I met some great people that I WILL name.
Mike Lilly, artist for Dynamite's "The Black Terror", and his wife were hands-down the most gracious, down-to-earth people I've met in a long time. Mike did a fantastic inked piece on the cover of my Secret Invasion #1 that will hopefully show up on his website (www.mikelilly.com) soon! Image's "Mice Templar" scribe Bryan J.L. Glass and his wife were also very friendly. Bryan is very passionate about his work, and makes no attempt to hide it. Any chat with him is bound to be entertaining! Speaking of "Mice Templar", I also met Dirk Shearer, who contributed the spot illustrations for the collected hardback. Dirk does fantastic scratchboard work, as well as more traditional art. Check him out :icongorgonfloorman: ! Neil Vokes, artist of "Parliament of Justice" and "The Black Forest", was also very genuine and engaging. A true gentleman, and another man very enthusiastic about what he does. Although, I do blame him for my camera being broken! LoL And my girlfriend keeps threatening to replace me after meeting Talent Caldwell. I don't blame her. He's one heck of a nice guy! I'll fondly remember talking about his work as we waited for a table outside the Outback Steakhouse.
Finally, I want to throw a shout-out to the gang at Identity Studios: Peng-Peng, Franchize, Joe & Flash. This is one hell of a talented group, with not one over-inflated ego among them. I want to thank them for their kindness, courtesy and respect. And since I promised to pimp them out, go check out their deviantART pages: :iconpeng-peng: , :iconthefranchize: , :iconlazeedog: , :iconsauceboy: . Joe had a great piece of original art that my gf and I fell in love with instantly and had to purchase. It's the piece called "tatooed" in his gallery, btw.
So, with that said, I have added some new pieces to my gallery...none of them nearly as good as anything by the aforementioned folks, most of them sketchy at best, but all done with love. Hope you enjoy.

Evil? Maybe, but...I'm liking.. I never knew. The flash.. impressive. You're definitely comic-minded. Some nice work there, Jeffrey.

Cool line work here, Its kinda rare to find people who do your straight out comic stuff here, Plus you like the crow movie (good trait)

Watch!

Thanks for the add! I appreciate the compliment - of course, there's a ton of room for improvement. I have a long way to go before I start throwing down art like you do. Your stuff is stellar, I love it all!

RISE!

Thanks alot!
judging by your name i guess you're a evil dead fan could you tell me who Bill Mosley played in army of darkness?
I havent seen it in a while is all. (kinda of topic but thanks anyway)
:iconevil-ash-666:
Yeah, you guessed right! Evil Dead 2 is actually my fave. Bill Moseley (or Mosley) played a Deadite Captain in Army of Darkness. Also, if you're a big horror buff, he played Chop Top in Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, and Johnnie in the 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead.
